Mineral Exploration
Exploration Department: Introduction & Achievements
Since the beginning of 2017, the Exploration Department of Kimia Goharan has been estimating and classifying various mine reserves using a range of exploration methods. These include collecting different data layers such as geological and topographical maps at various scales, trenching, sampling, geophysical operations, drilling boreholes, logging and core logging, and sample analysis.
As a result of these activities, several million tonnes of lead mineral reserves have been identified and estimated in various sections of the mine.
Exploration Activities Undertaken
Identification and evaluation of potential areas using geological studies and exploratory drilling to estimate reserve quantity and mineral quality — serving as a foundation for decision-making in subsequent stages.
- Purchase and commissioning of 8 core drilling rigs
- Drilling and analysis of approximately 100,000 metres of exploratory boreholes
- Aerial photography of 2,400 hectares of the mine area
- Preparation of geological and tectonic maps of 342 hectares at a scale of 1:1,000
- Conducting geophysical and geochemical studies
- Estimation of proven reserves in 7 underground blocks and 5 open-pit blocks
